WP Engine just announced that they have acquired WP Daily from 8BIT.
In an email I received from Austin Gunter, brand ambassador for WP Engine, he stated that “…WP Engine had been in the process of preparing to launch a WordPress news magazine when WP Daily shut down, and when we heard the news, we knew we wanted to make sure the content from WP Daily would live on.”
I agree with this whole heartedly. WP Daily became an important part of many people’s day, covering all the latest news and announcements within the WordPress community. This is a great way for the content to live and not lose any of the content, as had been the previous plan in the WP Daily shutdown announcement.
Today at WordCamp San Francisco, WP Engine is launching TorqueMag, calling it “The WordPress News Core.”

Michelle Oznowicz is the editor for TorqueMag, and she posted an intro with her background and a welcome to the online magazine publication.
I’m really looking forward to seeing more great content in the WordPress news space, especially from a well known company such as WP Engine.
