WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 Now Available…Getting Closer!

We’re getting a lot closer to a WordPress 3.6 Release Candidate, which is really exciting.

Mark Jaquith posted on the main WordPress blog that WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 is now available.

Mentioning just one feature enhancement, oEmbed support for Rdio and Spotify are now included with the WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 release. Unfortunately, the Rdio oEmbed does require flash, and fortunately, the Spotify oEmbed does not.

To date as of the 3.6 Beta 3 release, over 460 tickets have been closed.

Out of all the areas being touched with the major release of WordPress 3.6, Twenty Thirteen has seen 66 tickets closed, and Post Formats a close second with 47 tickets closed.

If you’re feeling curagous enough, you can go ahead and download the WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 — but note, it is highly recommended to not run this in production.

    Hi Jonathan,

WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 is now available! According to wordpress, This software still in development and they really don’t recommend that you run it on a production site — set up a test site just to play with the new version.

But personally i like the post formats UI but they are going to clutter the edit screen and make it more confusing for newbies.

      Hi Reneé,

Yup! This post was actually about that announcement, WordPress 3.6 Beta 3. Indeed, you really shouldn’t be using this version in production, best to keep it on a test site.

I’m not a huge fan of Post Formats, simply because I don’t need them for the type of content I publish here on WPForce.com, but I totally understand how others may really enjoy it.

There’s a plugin you can use to disable post formats in WordPress, in case you don’t want them. I’ll probably be using it.
