Lessons Learned on “How to End-of-Life” a Plugin

WordPress EOLAlex King, author of the widely used plugin Popularity Contest, decided that the plugin “did too much,” but “not enough.” And as a result, decided it was time to end-of-life the plugin.

Rather than just removing the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory, he took a different route to ensure that people really stopped using the plugin.
