Jetpack 1.6 Released: Adds Retina and Pinterest Support

Jetpack 1.6 has been released into the wild, with a 1.6.1 update following right behind it.

One of the major enhancements is Retina support. Matt Mullenweg has been on a frenzy about getting everything-WordPress upgraded to support Retina, and I can’t blame him — Retina looks awesome.

Here is the officia list of enhancements by the Jetpack team.

  • We’ve updated all the icons in Jetpack, including the Sharing ones, all the dashboard graphics, to be HiDPI.
  • Many retina updates for core weren’t ready for the 3.4 release, so we’ve bundled a hotfix that brings all the Retina improvements for 3.5 to Jetpack blogs, today. You won’t have to wait for December 5th to get all the improvements, download or update Jetpack today.
  • All Gravatars, mshots, and images embedded from *.files.wordpress.com will show up high-resolution.
  • Finally as a bonus, this release includes the much-requested Pinterest share buttons.

Here is a comparison by the Jetpack team, of what the difference looks like of Retina vs non-Retina.

In addition to Retina support, Jetpack now has Pinterest support for sharing.
